Dutch Chinese Held A Symposium On “Fighting For Promotion of Unification And Against Independence Of Taiwan”

(Xinhua News Agency, Amsterdam, May, 20 ), Dutch Chinese from all walks of life and Chinese students studying abroad in the Netherlands, held a symposium on May, 20 , on “Fighting For Promotion of Unification And Against Independence Of Taiwan”. Those present at the symposium accused the Taiwan authority of attempting to split the motherland by stubbornly sticking to independence policy. The meeting called for all the overseas Chinese to unite themselves and make contributions to the reunification of the motherland.

Summoner of COFA’s chairman corps, Mr. Hu Chongge, pointed out at the symposium that, the Taiwan authority has revealed its plot to split China by its refusal to accept the “one-China” policy, by their refusal to acknowledge themselves as Chinese , their increase on purchasing advanced weapons and their attempt to refuse reunification by strengthening its military power. He said , for decades, the Dutch Chinese have been caring about the cause of motherland’s reunification, and have been supporting China’s “Peaceful Reunification and One China Two systems” policy. He continued to say that , all Dutch Chinese called on the Taiwan authority to give up its independence policy , return to the “one China ” policy as soon as possible and stop blocking the cause cross-strait peaceful reunification.

Mr. Hu Zhiguang, chairman of the Dutch China Chamber of Commerce (DCCC) , said at the meeting that , China central government had adopted a very flexible policy. Chinese leaders has repeated on various occasions that , “We can conduct any talks as long as we accept the one-China policy ”, which showed China central government’s sincerity on peaceful reunification. But the Taiwan authority turns a deaf ear to it and continues to carry out activities leading to its independence. Hu Zhiguang said , now, the vast majority of overseas Chinese have seen through Taiwan authority’s attempt to split the motherland. That’s why “We’ll vigorously stand for reunification and against Taiwan’s independence. ”

Mr. Bi Chuanyou, chairman of De Stichting Landelijke Federatie Van Chinese Organisaties in Nederland (Stichting LFCON), said that, as an overseas Chinese, it is important for him to let the country where he is residing realizes the importance of China’s peaceful reunification and let the people of that country understand China and support China’s peaceful reunification. Meanwhile , he should also have more contacts with fellow Chinese in Taiwan so as to commonly promote the motherland’s efforts of reunification.

More than 60 persons attended the symposium, including representatives from Dutch Chinese communities and Chinese students studying overseas.
