The DCCC and Wenzhou Association of Fellow Townsmen Jointly Organized Overseas Chinese in the Netherlands to Go Back to Homeland for a Sightseeing

From September 22 to October 5, 2004, the 24-member business delegation led by Xu Zhuoya, deputy director of the Dutch China Chamber of Commerce (DCCC) arrived in Beijing. Members of the DCCC office in China received and accompanied with the delegation in China. During their stay in China, the delegation visited places such as Beijing, Wuhan, Huanggang, Jinan, Jiaxiang, Qufu, Taishan, Datong, Wantaishan and Yangzhou.

On September 23, the delegation attended the open ceremony banquet for the 5th “China International Machinery & Electronic Fair ” in Wuhan, where they were greeted by Yin Zhentao, deputy governor of Hubei province, and on September 24, the delegation presented the open ceremony of the 5th “China International Machinery & Electronic Fair ” and warmly met by main leaders of Hu Bei provincial government and Wuhan municipal government. They also honorably attended the entertainment show celebrating the beginning of the Fair with senior leaders including: Wei Jianguo, deputy minister of the Ministry of Commerce, Li Jianfen, general director of chamber of commerce under the Ministry of Machinery & Electronics, Luo Qinquan, governor of Hubei Province, Li Xianshen, mayor of Wuhan, etc. some members of the delegation joined the “Wuhan New District and Automobile Accessory Exhibition ” of the 5th “China International Machinery & Electronic Fair ” in Wuhan International Conference and Exhibition Center. In Huanggang city, leaders in Huanggang government warmly received the delegation; both sides presented gifts and silk banner and held talks on commercial investigation. On September 25, Shandong Overseas Chinese Office in Jinan welcomed the delegation. In Jiaxiang city, the delegation attended the open ceremony of the stone carving festival, on which the CCTV and Shangdong TV made a full-term report.

In the evening of Sep. 28, 2004, the delegation was invited to the Chinese National Day banquet held at the Great Hall of the People. And the next day, they were invited to the luncheon hosted by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese for celebration of the National Day. Mr. Li Zupei, vice chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, took pictures with members of the delegation. On September 30, the delegation joined the banquet held by China Zhi Gong Dang for celebration of the National Day in the hall of the CPPCC.

On Sep. 30, the delegation went to Wutaishan County, Shanxi Province, members of the delegation went to a primary school in Yang Baiyu Village, Taihuai County, where they presented to the school their donations, including a collective donation amounted up to 10,000 yuan, and an individual donation amounted up to 25,000 yuan. The donations were greatly appreciated by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shanxi Province, the education sector of the local government and students and teachers of the school.

After the National Day, the delegation went to Yangzhou for an investigation. Accompanied by Fan Jiansheng, vice director of Administration Committee of Yangzhou Ganjiang District Industrial Park, the delegation visited Yangzhou Ganjiang District Industrial Park.

The delegation was dismissed on October 4th; some members flew back to the Netherlands on October 5th.

The delegation enjoyed a good time in the homeland; all members witnessed the prosperity of their motherland and the great changes in social and economic areas with their own eyes. During their tour in China, they were warmly welcomed by local governments and friendly chambers, all those inspired the overseas Chinese’s love to the Homeland and enthusiasm of going back. While organizing commercial delegation, improving the trade contacts between China and Europe, the DCCC will also provide more chances and helps to overseas Chinese in Europe for go back for a sightseeing of the motherland.
